Bangalore Palace

Bangalore Palace , a 120 year old monument was built by Chamaraja Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore in 1887.During a visit to England, Chamaraja Wodeyar was inspired by the Windsor Castle in London, and along similar lines he built this palace in Tudor style complete with Gothic windows, foiled windows, battlements and turrets  this summer palace has been constructed largely of wood and is famous for its carving and paintings.

Bangalore palace surrounded by beautiful gardens is in the midst of a vast open area. Spread over an area of about 430 acres, Bangalore palace is famous for its carved woodwork.

 
 
Bangalore palace has a built-up area of around 45,000 sq. ft and is a major tourist attraction. Within its walls is the well preserved 16th century Ganapathi Temple.

Bangalore Airport is about 10 km from the Bangalore palace. The palace is about 1 km from Bangalore Canttonment station and 6 km from both Yeshwantpur and City Terminus.

Located between Jayamahal and Sadashivanagar areas, Bangalore palace ground has become a venue for various exhibitions, concerts and cultural programs.
